This post is a little over due but the Swenson crew kind of had a rough start with our little Millie.
Millie was born Friday the 13th around 10 pm. Good, fast, uncomplicated labor. I was started a week early cause the doctors thought I could be on the edge of preeclampsia. After having Millie they drew blood again and diagnosed me with HEELP syndrome ( the more severe version of preeclampsia). Which meant I had to hang out on the labor and delivery floor for 24 hours with no food, bed rest and hopped up on magnesium. Lets just say I was thinking about nothing but being home with my new little baby.
They moved us to a different floor Saturday night and we were going to be discharged on Sunday. Sunday afternoon came and the nurse came in to do a car seat check before we left when Millie turned blue around her mouth. They rushed her into the nursery to check her oxygen levels and drew blood. The results came back with an indication that Millie might have some kind of infection. They immediately admitted her into the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). All the tests that were done in the days that followed came back normal and BELIEVE me they did everything from spinal taps to EEG's. You name it Mill got it. Since she had that blue spell on Sunday afternoon they automatically started a 7 day course of antibiotics and the doctors informed us that we would have to stay ALL 7 days no matter what. Lets just say come Sunday we were ready to get out of there and NEVERRRRR go back! I was pulling things out of her even before the doctors had come to discharge her. We had all had it with the hospital. The doctors told us that they will never know what was wrong with her when she turned blue and that they will never be able to give us answers. Which is frustrating for her parents. Looking back now we both know that what happened to her was probably something that we wouldn't have noticed at home until it was too late. Even though those 7 extra days in the hospital were horrible, we are grateful that we have our little girl home and that she is healthy.
We would like to thank everyone for their calls, prayers, names in the temple and e-mails. You will never know how much they helped both of us get through this past week.
Here are a bunch of pictures of the past two weeks.
Millie came out and latched on to those two fingers for hours.

This is about ten minutes before everything went crazy!

Millie's first crib.. not cool

The EEG leads made one heck of a ponytail

Then the task of trying to get all of the glue out of her hair (which is still in there)

All clean!

Grandma and Grandpa Harman got to know the NICU really well!

Moms birthday was on the 19th. Not a very fun day. A night shift at the hospital with Millie from 10 to 3am. Nap time. Then we went to the Pit for their favorite. FRIED OREOS!!

Took a little break from the hospital to walk across the street and get us some grub while the game was going on.

Getting some daddy lovin

This was one of the first times that I got to hold Millie without all of her wires attached to her. We liked to call it her leash.

Getting ready to leave with her papa.

Then Millie FINALLY posted bail from baby jail!! We were set free!

This is her "Don't you EVER take me back there AGAIN!" look
